Economic Uncertainty: A Macro View on Tariffs and Global Markets

The world economy is re-accelerating after record-high policy uncertainty discouraged discretionary spending in 2025. Improved growth expectations, together with a weak US dollar, low financial stress and China’s green energy transition are propping up commodity prices. Join Numera’s Chief Economist as he discusses how these forces shape the global economic and commodity outlook for 2026, and if the dollar slide is sustainable.

Q&A to follow.

Optimizing Fibre, Elevating Performance: How Hardwood Is Helping Customers Compete

With global trade patterns shifting, geopolitical tensions rising, and consolidation reshaping the pulp sector, the industry is navigating a period of real change. In this keynote, Suzano will share its view on how these forces are influencing supply, demand, and competitiveness across North America and key global markets.

The focus of the session will be on customers and the practical ways Suzano is working alongside them to improve performance and reduce costs. Through real examples from customer partnerships, the presentation will walk through how increasing the share of hardwood in tissue and paper furnishes can boost efficiency, enhance product quality, and support more resilient operations. I will share business case showing how customers have successfully adopted higher hardwood ratios without sacrificing softness, strength, or runnability.

While sustainability remains part of Suzano’s long term vision, this talk is grounded in day-to-day realities: helping producers make smarter furnish decisions, stay competitive, and prepare for what’s coming next.

Svante's Facilities Tour

Join us for an exclusive, behind‑the‑scenes tour of Svante’s state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility to see how carbon capture and removal can be integrated into existing pulp mill operations and create long-term value.

This visit is designed specifically for pulp industry leaders seeking practical, economically compelling decarbonization pathways that can be deployed at operating mills today. You’ll see how carbon capture and removalcan help:

  • Unlock new revenue streams by capturing biogenic CO₂ that can support participation in emerging carbon dioxide removal (CDR) markets, offtake agreements, and premium low‑carbon product strategies
  • Create a clear pathway toward carbon‑negative, climate‑positive market pulp products, turning decarbonization into a differentiated market advantage
  • Strengthen the long‑term viability of existing facilities, enabling mills to remain competitive, as customers, regulators, and investors increasingly favor low‑carbon materials
  • Leverage existing waste heat and infrastructure, integrating carbon capture into mill operations with minimal disruption while improving overall energy efficiency

Stanley Park Forestry Tour

Join a guided walking tour of Stanley Park led by registered forest professional Bruce Blackwell, and explore how a major insect outbreak reshaped one of Canada’s most iconic urban forests, affecting more than 25 percent of the park’s tree cover.

This tour highlights the Vancouver Park Board’s science based, multi-year restoration program, including hazard tree management, replanting for long term resilience, habitat considerations, and public engagement.

Participants will visit affected stands, active management areas, and replanting sites, gaining a ground level perspective on how pest disturbance, climate pressures, and public expectations intersect in a highly visible urban forest.

For International Pulp Week delegates, this is a unique opportunity to connect forest health, fibre utilization, and public perception while experiencing the scale and complexity of coastal forests in British Columbia.
